The FMC and FMSB have made two changes to policy and procedure which are relevant to family mediators working towards accreditation.
The first is a change to the FMC’s Standards’s Framework which relevant to all mediators working towards accreditation, and introduces greater flexibility with regards to the case commentaries to be submitted with a mediator’s portfolio. Full details of the amendment are set out here, and the Standards Framework document itself will be updated with the new contents shortly. This change has been made in response to feedback from PPCs that ‘all issues’ cases are becoming increasingly rare.
The second new policy relates to those mediators who completed their foundation training before 1.1.15, and who are therefore due to submit their portfolios before 31.12.17. The circumstances in which extensions will be granted, and the conditions and length of extensions which may be given, are set out in the Extension Policy and Procedure.
