Mediation – What CAFCASS FCAs Need to Know

This session aims to give CAFCASS officers a good understanding of mediation and how this can help families  It covers suitability of mediation, what happens in a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM), the voice of the child, when and how to refer to a mediator, and funding options. At the end of this session, you will understand the core principles of mediation, its benefits and confidently be able to sign post families to regulated mediators.

 

Your speakers
As well as being a qualified and practiced Mentor and Coach in the past, Christine Daniels has also had a long and successful business career (20+ years) latterly working for a global ‘Blue Chip’ company. Christine served as a Magistrate for 8 years (specialising in Family Courts) and has also worked as a McKenzie Friend. In 2009, Christine commenced and subsequently completed training to become a Mediator. She has mediated many and various community, workplace and restorative justice matters. In 2014, Christine qualified as an Accredited Family Mediator. Christine is a member of The Family Mediation Association and registered with the Family Mediation Council. In 2019 Christine became a qualified Child Consultant and as such, can now offer Children in Mediation (CIM) services to clients. In 2022, she qualified as a Personal Practice Consultant (PPC).  Since becoming a Family Mediator, Christine has her own family mediation practice; Divorce Solutions SE specialising, but not restricted to, divorce and child issues. Christine offers clients Zoom meetings (any UK location) or face-to-face meetings (around London, Kent, and Thanet).

Christine is trained in commercial, community, interpersonal conflict, and restorative justice mediation. Christine continues to build on her experience of related mediation matters by being an FMA Board member, working within various Family Mediation Standards Board panels and volunteers her services as a mediator to various Citizen Advice Bureaux.
