The FMC is appointing a new Chief Assessor to start in late 2018/early 2019.
Role description
The FMC’s Chief Assessor ensures that the assessment of portfolios for FMCA accreditation is carried out in a fair and consistent manner.
The Chief Assessor does this by:
- acting as a focal point for enquiries about the assessment procedure and confirming the outcome of accreditation following assessment
- acting as liaison between the FMSB/ FMC and the assessors on any matter relating to the accreditation process
- moderating the assessments of the assessors so that there is consistency in terms of outcome for mediators between the various assessors
- reviewing guidelines for assessors together with the FMSB as may be required from time to time
- preparing for and chairing an annual assessors’ meeting
- working with other assessors to suggest any changes to the portfolio guidance and template from time to time
- providing guidance to the FMSB (as requested) about the accreditation and portfolio requirements in the FMC’s Manual of Professional Standards and Self-Regulatory Framework.
Person specification
The new Chief Assessor will be:
- an experienced family mediator and hold FMCA
- a PPC who has recent substantial experience of supporting mediators who are working towards accreditation
- a proponent of the need for maintaining high standards among family mediators
Experience of assessment of FMCA portfolios is advantageous but not essential.
Remuneration
The Chief Assessor is paid a monthly honorarium of £100 per month for advisory work and that supporting other assessors, and a fixed amount per portfolio that is considered for moderation (currently £75 for a first submission and £45 for a re-submission).
